Hand in Hand

  Two Mites like the Widow gave

I’ve been thinking of 2 sides of the same coin and how important loving GOD and The Great Commission is and what GOD calls Pure and faultless.

Then I read the blog post below from Kim Petitt from her blog Beyond My Limitations 

Why evangelism and helping those less fortunate must go hand in hand?

She inspired me to write more about what I’ve been thinking and meditating on.  Thank you Kim!

We can come to know GOD’s will and heart for us in following JESUS with our lives…

So, if we think of 2 coins that go hand in hand:

First coin in one hand:

1st side is Love the LORD your GOD with all your heart, soul,                                                                       mind and strength toward fulfilling The Great                                                                               Commission of sharing the Gospel
2nd side is Love your neighbor as oneself which can become an                                                                    action of providing for the poor and needy especially                                                                  to our brothers and sisters in Christ

Second coin in the other hand:

1st side is that Pure and faultless religion is this to care                                                               for the orphans and widows in distress
2nd side is Keep oneself from being polluted by the world

So I agree that evangelism and meeting needs go hand in hand is truth… And we must also practice purity in our personal lives…

We can often forget about the importance of purity, but there is great reward when we focus on praying to be pure, thinking pure thoughts, being pure in our actions with others, knowing the benefits of being pure, and trusting that HE purifies us…

Prayer to Be Pure

Psalm 51

Have mercy on me, O God,
    according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
    blot out my transgressions.
Wash away all my iniquity
    and cleanse me from my sin.

    and done what is evil in your sight;
so you are right in your verdict
    and justified when you judge.

Pure Thoughts

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.  Philippians 4:8

Pure Actions

1 Peter 1:22 English Standard Version (ESV)

Psalm 24:3-5 ESV 

Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully. He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart,

Benefit of Being Pure

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God“.  Matthew 5:8

Hope in HIM to Be Pure

14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears[a] we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.

 

We can have faith without deeds or deeds without faith. Both ways are lacking.

However, faith in action (with deeds) should be a priority and an essential part of the mix for others to find HIM faithful, to realize HE’s true to HIS nature/character, and to discover HIS authenticity/reality…

JESUS wants to save/forgive and provide for one’s needs…  When we read about HIS life, HE did both simultaneously…

The early church also had to focus on the priority of prayer/preaching of the Word and taking care of needs… It would reconcile to do both…

The Choosing of the Seven

1 In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. 
2 So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. 
3 Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them 
4 and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.” 
5 This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism. 
6 They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them. 
7 So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.

Faith and Deeds

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”

Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

20 You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless[a]? 21 Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,”[b] and he was called God’s friend. 24 You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.

Sharing faith, Shining faith in Hope, and Showing faith with Love

There is benefit when we combine our faith with good deeds out of a profound love expressed to GOD our FATHER in Christ…
We show our faith (belief/trust in JESUS and love for GOD) by our deeds for others…
So that our Spirit is alive by obeying and sharing the Way of the Gospel, shining the Light of HIS truth with our testimony and HIS Word, and our faith is alive by showing the Life with our love in meeting their needs…

Hebrews 10:24 New International Version (NIV)

24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,…

I ask that you consider combining your faith in action toward sharing your faith story and supporting and caring for orphans and widows…  You’ll be glad you did!  For I believe that when we walk together hand in hand, there is great reward from GOD our FATHER in Christ…

Pure Strength

Ought to warn us about what’s forbidden

Forethought gives us Heaven’s wisdom

 

High Priest

Fought to intercede until we’re awoken

 

King of kings

Allot to reign in HIM with sons and daughters once orphans restored for Heaven as treasured tokens
