What is Blogger Recognition Award?

The Blogger Recognition Award is an award that recognizes talented bloggers and helps bloggers to support each other’s creations. This award encourages the bloggers to inspire all through their writing and nominate their inspiring bloggers.

Backstory of My Blogging Journey

beavoicefororphans is inspired by GOD the FATHER and my LORD and Savior Jesus Christ…  I could not be a voice without HIS faithful mercy, compassion, and grace working in me by HIS Spirit pouring within faith, hope, and love to overflowing…

Writing, for me, didn’t spark interest within until entering college.  Upon taking English I, I had an inspiring professor who encouraged us to write about what inspired us about visiting a place in St. Louis along Euclid Ave.  I just couldn’t find anything to write about until the lights turned on along the walkway lined with small shops.  It was the lights that  sparked what I would write about.  I was inspired by him to write well (getting A’s) on the 4 types of writing he assigned.

Then several years later, I took a poetry summer class.  Another inspiring professor gave us our first assignment.  She wrote 15-20 words on the white board and asked us to write a poem in 5 minutes.  I used every word in a sentence that rhymed throughout.  Her feedback on the paper was “Amazing, keep writing”.  I did just that!  I kept writing, mostly poetry for I grew to love this style of communication so much…  I have written poetry ongoing since 1995…  I mostly wrote in my quiet times with the LORD…

In 2003, I committed my creative writing to the LORD…  HE had already given me a heart for orphans.  During Christmas of the same year, our gifts (through participation in Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Shoebox outreach) went to India to a pastor’s 3 children.  He wrote back to me that he desired to continue correspondence.  I soon discovered he cares for orphans.  We soon started supporting the care of orphans and K.O.R.E. ministry was founded.  K.O.R.E. expanded and support for more orphans with another pastor launched.  Just recently, my oldest daughter began giving to a 3rd pastor caring for orphans…  I have 1 more pastor in mind who cares for orphans that we would like to support again as well.

After committing my creative writing to the LORD, I spent an extended period of time writing purely as being a voice for orphans inspired by GOD’s Spirit…  You can read these poems on the K.O.R.E. for more website at the following link:

GOD’s Heart:

Psalm 68:5

A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,
is God in his holy dwelling.

Our Mission with HIM:

Proverbs 31:8-9

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.

While sitting at the Caloosahatchee River in Florida, GOD put it on my heart to “walk on the water” for orphans.  HE didn’t mean for me to walk literally upon the river physically, but to reach out with care and love to them…  It required faith…  Faith in action…  It required hope…  Hope that GOD the FATHER would use us to make a positive impact in orphans lives…  It required love…  Love to show GOD’s love in and through us to them…  Orphans require provision, from GOD through HIS people, of shelter, food, clothing, faith, hope, love, mercy, grace, compassion, encouragement, and a place of belonging in a family/church…

The next step was to start this blog as an extension of what GOD was doing for orphans and to share HIS heart of love for them…

I hope beavoicefororphans inspires, motivates, and encourages you to support orphans in some way:  to be a voice for orphans, to provide for orphans, and/or visit orphans…  If you would like to do just that, let me know…  I will share with you simple and easy steps for you to come alongside the journey…  Let’s store up treasure in Heaven sending ripple effects of rescue, restoration, and redemption of precious lives…  You can even become a part of the K.O.R.E. team…

Advice for New Bloggers

  • Write from your heart about what you’re passionate about…
  • Write to inspire, motivate, and encourage…
  • Network with other bloggers taking the time to connect your blog to the audience   you desire to reach out to.  This can be those who you’re trying to inspire, motivate, and encourage…  This can be those who also have a similar experience, background, and/or interest in…
  • Don’t worry about who or how many will follow you…  It is worthwhile and valuable to reach just one who can relate to you and your voice through the written words…
  • Don’t be afraid to write your story, sometimes being vulnerable to express honest and relatable posts…
  • You don’t have to write with a set schedule or even that often, though this helps your followers to know how you’re doing and what is happening in your life…
  • If you have the desire to write, then do so:
  • to journal…
  • to pour out your heart sharing frustrations, feelings, and the past you’re trying to overcome…
  • to organize your thoughts…
  • to inspire, motivate, and encourage…
  • to tell about your life simply…
  • to share your poems, stories, and/or artwork…

About beavoicefororphans

My wife and I have been married for nineteen years and have seven children, two of which were miscarried and carried to Heaven. We met working as residential care counselors in an emergency shelter for abused and neglected children. We both love Jesus Christ, and have a passion for others to know Him and His saving grace, as well as a passion to reach the orphan. Most recently, GOD has put in my heart to reach out to those suffering with mental illness and suicidal ideation.

  1. Thank you for recognizing me! I often wonder if I’m really doing any good by my blogging. It is nice to know that I have support and that what I am doing is appreciated. It is not always easy to put into words the things we go through but I pray that God would continue to inspire me as I go along. I am particularly inspired by your work with orphans. James said this was part of “true religion” and something more of us should be motivated and involved in. Thank you for your example and kindness.
